Christopher Lee was born on 27 May 1922 in London, England. His father was a Colonel in the Kings Rifle Corps and was decorated after serving in the Boer War and WW I. His mothers name is Contessa Estelle Marie Carandini di Sarzano and the Carandini family is one of the oldest in Europe and traces its lineage back to the first century A.D. Christopher Lee went to school at Summer Fields prep school and later Eton College and Wellington College. He served in the Royal Air Force and Special Forces in WW II and was decorated for distinguished service. He left the military with the rank of Flight Lieutenant. After the war, he went under contract with the Rank Organisation for awhile appearing in theater and opera. His first movie was in 1948 and since then, he has appeared in approximately 250 films which has landed him in the Guiness Book of World Records as being the international movie star with the most film credits. He has filmed movies in several languages and he fluently speaks French, Italian, Spanish and German also speaks some Swedish, Russian and Greek. He has been an avid golfer and a lover of opera for many years He has been marrid to Danish model and painter Gitte Kroencke since 1963 and they have one daughter, Christina. Christopher and Gitte currently reside in the United Kingdom.
