Horror Movie Genres

The horror movie genre has produced some of the most enduring images from filmdom. Bela Lugosi as Dracula; Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's Monster; Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lechter. These characters and thousands of others like them keep movie fans returning year after year to theaters and video stores in an attempt to frighten them. Indeed, Dracula, the most filmed character in movie history, has been portrayed at least 200 times in films going back to the silent era. This far surpases the next most filmed character in movie history, Frankenstein's Monster, whom has appeared in at least 50 films going back to the 1910 Thomas Edison production starring Charles Ogle.
